Which one you need

Three separate jobs that share a name

People use the phrase drone survey for all three of these. They use different cameras, they answer different questions and they cost different amounts, so it is worth two minutes working out which one your problem is.
Aerial view of a rendered Devon house at a three quarter angle showing lichen spotted slates, a lead lined valley, a brick chimney stack with a cowl and black gutters

Building and roof survey

One building photographed from the air in detail, ridge to gutters, and written up so the condition of the parts nobody can reach is on the record.

  • Every elevation photographed at first floor and roof height
  • The roof plan photographed from above, pitch by pitch
  • Close detail on ridges, valleys, flashings, verges and chimney stacks
  • Gutters, downpipes and outlets, including where water is standing

Land and site survey

A field, a yard, a paddock or a development plot photographed from directly above and stitched into one flat image, so an area can be seen and shared.

  • A flown grid over the agreed area with overlapping frames
  • One stitched, flat overhead image of the whole parcel
  • Oblique photographs from each corner for context
  • A note of the date, the conditions and the area covered

Thermal survey

A radiometric thermal camera flown over a building to show where heat is leaving it and where moisture is sitting, which an ordinary camera cannot show.

  • Thermal imagery of the roof and the elevations that can be flown
  • A matching ordinary photograph of each thermal frame, so the shapes can be placed
  • A note of the conditions, because they decide what the images mean
  • Interpretation in plain words, with the uncertain ones marked as uncertain
